Australian Design Award – the beginning
The ski-slope system that Leaf Stopper® is based on was originally invented in 1989. It was conceived by Michael Sichel (left) and the invention was rewarded with The Australian Design Award in 1991 (Michael Carter pictured right).
Major Innovation – the start of Leaf Stopper®
In May 2005 a very significant step was taken regarding this design and the co-innovators of the first aluminium ski-slope system saw the first aluminium mesh trialled on a Sydney home in Penrith. One of the co-innovators was the owner of the Leaf Stopper® brand. Since that time Leaf Stopper® has grown extensively to be sold throughout all of Australia. It was used on many of the government’s BER programs (Building & Education Revolution) and is continually being installed on schools, commercial work and residential buildings. It is widely specified by architects and builders.
